Committee News

Charity Committee
This year the Charity Committee has been working with the Calman Centre which is a fabulous Cancer charity based in the  grounds of Gartnaval hospital. This service offers counselling and therapies to anyone affected by Cancer including families, friends and carers. For more information about the charity please visit cancersupportscotland.org. The Charity Committee held our 'Funky Feet Friday' event where children designed, decorated and wore their own funky shoes for a donation to the Calman Centre. The children had great fun and we even had prizes for the 'funkiest shoes' judged by Kirsty from the Calman Centre.

Eco Committee
The Eco committee are working on an 'Adopt a Station' project and are working with Scotrail and Jordanhill train station.
This year the nursery has received our Bronze Award and are working on completing our Silver Award really soon.
We have recently applied to a Eco Schools global competition "Wrigley less campaign" about litter. As part of our pledge we had said we would like to extend our litter resources and maybe buy a bin if we won the competition. A couple of weeks later Mr Alcorn (Eco schools coordinator)  got a email from Eco Schools Scotland to say we won the competition and will receive £200 to put our ideas in place.
This week the children were involved in choosing a bin for the nursery garden and with 19 votes the winning bin for our nursery garden was the Penguin bin. Keep your eyes peeled in the garden to see our new bin arriving soon :)
